TOULON -- A 20-year-old burglar who escaped with five other inmates from the Joliet Correctional Center listened to his parents and surrendered Saturday, authorities reported. Ronald Roach is the fifth inmate who broke out two weeks ago to be returned to custody. He surrendered Saturday to the Stark County Sheriff's Department.

Roach, who was serving a 4-year sentence for burglary, made his way to his parents' home in the Stark County town of Wyoming after escaping from the maximum-security prison.

The only prisoner still at large was David Rodriguez, 21, of Chicago, who was serving a 25-year term for murder. Roach will be returned to Joliet to face arraignment on escape charges, said Nic Howell, spokesman for the state Corrections Department. Two prisoners who started the breakout were captured on Thursday in Chicago.

State police Capt. Terry Delaney said they hired a taxi outside the prison to complete their getaway.

Delaney said the cabdriver did not notice anything unusual because James Allen, 40, and Daniel Johnson, 24, both convicted killers, wore winter coats over their prison uniforms.
