Joliet's Route 66 Raceway

The Route 66 Raceway -- a multimillion-dollar complex for drag, oval-track and road-course racing -- took shape in what was once a 250-acre tract of farmland on the southeast outskirts of Joliet.

Since opening its doors for the first time in May 1998, Route 66 Raceway -- the first true "Stadium of Drag Racing" -- has provided top-notch entertainment for all types of racing fans.

Located just 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago on Old Historic Route 66 (three miles south of I-80 on Route 53), the 240 acre multi-purpose facility features a state-of-the-art drag strip with stadium-style seating, a 1/2-mile clay oval and a road-course test track.

During the 2000 racing season, Route 66 Raceway will host a wide variety of events such as world-class NHRA drag racing, demolition derby, supercross, car shows, concerts, and more. Come join us and experience the thrill of racing.

In addition to the drag strip, which affords stadium-style seating for 30,000 race fans, Route 66 boasts a two-mile, 15-turn road course; a three-eighths-mile paved oval; a half-mile clay oval; a one-mile off-road track; and a 35-acre paved driving school pad.
